Unit: Historical Fiction

Book Clubs

     Students,

You will draft an iSearch reasearch paper to support your Historical Fiction story.  Use your

iSearch project to help develop authentic details and events for your writing.  Remember to

to keep your iSearch in your voice:  honest, informal, and real.  Also, make sure you keep

a record of all the working and thinking that you're doing and why you're doing it:  keep links,

explain ideas, and all around help develop your story.

Here's a link to all of the different students in your class:

               704

               705

               708

Here's a link to some resources that might help you find new information:

               Research Help

Model:  Mr. Ravin's iSearch (Cuban Revolution)

Model:  Ms. Williams' iSearch (Vietnam War)

Here are the questions and steps for your webquest:

Step 1:    Why did you choose this topic and time period?

What topic did you choose?  What time period is your story in?  Why is this topic or

time period interesting to you?  Why do you think you want to write this story?  In this

                         time period?

Step 2:  How do you plan to research this topic?

What do you want to know?  How do people dress?  How do people talk?  Where do

people live?  What do they eat?  What really actually happened?  What's the timeline of

                         events?

What will the answers help you know?  Why are these answers important?  How will this

help you to develop your story?

Step 3:  Tell me about your research process.

                         Where did you go?

What kind of information did you find?

Collect highlights and important quotes.  (Don't copy whole pages!)

                         What new questions came up?

What did you figure out?  What did you learn?

What information was really helpful for you?

Step 4:  Organize your final research and information.

Layout your final images, links, and details you will use in your story.
